T-Vice is a Haitian konpa band founded in 1991 in Port-au-Prince by brothers Roberto and Reynaldo Martino, later based in Miami. The group modernized konpa with synths, pop and R&B touches, and relentless carnival energy, becoming one of the genre’s most visible international acts. Major releases: Kompa Kontak (1994); Di’m Sa’w We (2001); Vinn Pran Not / ViceTime (2003); Kite’m Viv (2006); Welcome to Haiti: Vinn Investi (2009); Resan (2013). Popular songs: “Kite’m Viv,” “Welcome to Haiti,” “Vinn Investi,” “Deblozay,” “Mira,” “Bam’ Pitit Mwen,” “Konpa Direk,” “Vag Pasyans,” “Kòman Nou Dous.” Common themes: love and dancefloor romance; pride in Haiti and the diaspora; civic messages encouraging investment and solidarity (e.g., “Vinn Investi,” “Duty & Sacrifice”).
